Cheryl is a natural history artist, painting plants and insects in watercolour, on paper and vellum. She particularly enjoys painting Australian natives and more recently has been focusing particularly on threatened and endangered species. Cheryl teaches both botanical and insect illustration. She hopes that through her painting and teaching, she will encourage people to look at the natural world with curiosity and fascination and therefore be more inclined to look after it.
During Cheryl’s open studio, she will have works in progress on display as well as completed paintings. She will be demonstrating painting with plant and insect subjects and will be able to answer any questions you have about her drawing and painting process. You will also be able to view some of the insects she painted through the microscope, and she can discuss some of the important characteristics she endeavours to capture in her work. When you leave this open studio will view plants and insects in a whole new light!
