This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Braidwood Airing of the Quilts, a beloved tradition that celebrated the age-old practice of airing quilts after the long, cold winter – a ritual that once signalled the true arrival of spring. Across the weekend of the 22-23 November 2025, Braidwood’s State Heritage-listed facades and 19th-century verandas will once again be draped with quilts from near and far, attracting visitors from across the region to witness this cultural spectacle.

Across three decades, the event has grown into one of Braidwood’s most vibrant annual celebrations. A significant highlight is the indoor quilt exhibition inside the historic Braidwood National Theatre, where the town’s quilting community comes together to showcase extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity. Community and church groups will also present their own complementary displays, adding depth and colour to the weekend program.
Visitors can look forward to:
- A textile-focused outdoor market in Ryrie Park, offering fabrics, handmade goods, festive purchases and artisan wares.
- A quilted Christmas Stocking display in the main street shopfronts adds a touch of seasonal charm.
- Quilt installations in both the Uniting Church and the Anglican Church, each offering a peaceful and beautifully curated display.
- The public showing of the newly restored 1930 Dodge Jellybrand vintage vehicle at D & S Motors from 1 pm.

The fun doesn’t end there as the town will be buzzing with excitement with special offers at local businesses, vintage cars on exhibit, buskers setting the tone with live music throughout the weekend, and a plethora of market stalls offering handmade goods and treats.
Many more local businesses will also be involved in the big weekend, with Much To Do About Chocolate selling not only their usual wide variety of chocolates but also unique chocolates especially made for the occasion, and Creative Edge has brought in more stock with lots of haberdashery, craft and gifts on offer. The Braidwood Quilt Store will also of course have an amazing variety of Christmas fabrics on offer to complement their extensive range of high-quality fabrics.
Joining in on the celebration of the craft, Bungendore Quilters will also hold their annual quilt exhibition this weekend at the Bungendore Memorial Hall. The exhibition will feature a diverse range of quilts made by members of Bungendore Quilters, as well as the popular Viewer’s Choice Award, Annual Members’ Challenge, raffle quilt, quilt block hunt and lucky door prizes. The sales table will also have fabulous high-quality, handmade craft items on sale.
