Ray Monde is a contemporary paper artist whose work explores a deep connection to land and people, particularly rural men, seeking solace in the landscape. Ray Monde uses a technique called ghostworking where he overpaints paper so images ghost through the paint, adding complexity to his work. Monde had his first major solo exhibition at Goulburn Regional Art Gallery in 2022 which brought to the fore the artist’s personal experience of queerness in regional Australia. An artist-in-residence at Bundanon in 2024, inspired his second solo exhibition, The Places that Shape Us, at Maitland Regional Art Gallery and The Q Exhibition Space in 2026.
