The Braidwood Library is showcasing a series of photographic artworks by Frank Lindner, along its exhibition wall. The displayed artworks are from Frank’s recent series Who Am I Really? that explores one way in which masks can work to conceal and transform identity. Taken at a three-day folk festival, subjects were asked to mark paper bags and wear them for portraits. The portraits reveal and conceal, a performative identity shift into a liminal state in which the masked performer is neither fully themselves nor completely the character portrayed. Frank Lindner is an award-winning Braidwood photographer is known for his quasi-documentary style portraits of unordinary people. He uses film and digital capture, lighting and wild colours. Often collaborating with his subjects to explore the normal disruptions, setbacks, ambiguities and mistakes of day-to-day life.
