Beyond Clear Waters: Paintings from Queanbeyan & Beyond brings together a curated collection of Jenny Sheppard’s paintings of the familiar landscapes, people and places of Queanbeyan, Canberra and the South Coast. Drawing on a lifetime of observing and engaging with the local environment, Sheppard transforms recognisable scenes through imagination, vibrant colours and light. Working predominately in oils, her paintings feature flora, fauna and aspects of contemporary life interwoven with a sense of nostalgia and awe, capturing the ways a place can be remembered, experienced and imagined. Jenny graduated from Canberra Art School in 1980 and has exhibited extensively throughout the region and spent 15 years creating architectural impressions of local homes.
